The calf muscle is made up of two different muscles. These muscles are the gastrocnemius and the soleus muscles. The join to form the Achilles tendon which inserts into the heel. Some tips for preventing calf pain and injuries:

  • Warm up before exercise
  • Stretching / Strengthening to help with calf strength and endurance

  • Avoid prolonged sitting / lying in bed
  • Massage therapy and dry needling therapy can also help maintain good tissue length
